Chocolate Galleons

Cake Magic’s motto has always been ‘Any challenge Welcome’.

 This statement has led us into some new and interesting ventures, of which the
best example is chocolate galleons. 
We were contacted a few years ago by HMS Nelson in Portsmouth who had read our advert and wanted to test our motto by finding out if we could make for them chocolate replicas of HMS Victory for the Trafalgar celebrations,
 and most importantly at the time for the T200 celebrations. Never able to turn down a challenge, Linda at Cake Magic set about
 researching how to go about making chocolate galleons. This involved finding out how to make a mould that would be big enough to be a centre piece for such celebrations, withstand the heat of melted chocolate as well as be malleable enough to release
the chocolate once set because at that time no specific chocolate mould existed. Linda’s first job involved getting a company to draw up a wire drawing of the hull
 so that the next company could produce the tooling to make the moulds.
 After a few goes, and the use of different rubbers the mould was created. Cake Magic owns the Copyright to these moulds and is the only company in the UK
to own these moulds. With the use of these moulds 278 chocolate galleons were produced for the T200 celebrations with them going in front of the Duke of Edinburgh, The Queen herself on board HMS Victory and the 1st Admiral.
 Since this success we have gone onto supply these chocolate galleons for Trafalgar celebrations across the UK each year with last year seeing us produce 80.

Needless to say as we are a small family run business with only 2 members
of staff and we were continuing to run the shop and carry on with the cake aspect of our work we are very proud of this achievement.
